SWAZILAND

The Swazi people is a Bantu speaking community  predominantly from the Ngunis. They are originally from the East Central Africa who settled in the southern Tongaland while expanding southwards after crossing the Limpopo river in the 15th century. After many years the clan moved towards the Pongola river area. Later on, shortage of land and economic pressures brought two groups (Ngunis and Ndwandwe) to blows. After the battle the Swazi's retreated to what is today the central Swaziland.

Actually Swaziland has a population of approximately  1 Million habitants and a area of 17.360 sq.Km, with a bicameral parliament consisting of 65 members (55 elected by secret ballot and 10 appointed by the king).

The main reason why you will visit Swaziland is the kingdom tradition and the culture of  its people. We will not take you there to stay in a luxury apartment of a chain of  hotels. Swaziland is a small country, yet very big in African traditions and wilderness. Our tours to Swaziland are concentrated on the Swati costumes and the history of the country and its nature.

ACTIVITIES AND WHAT TO SEE

The CULTURAL VILLAGES are the ideal place to go if you want to see a swazi homestead.A visit to the King Sobhuza II Memorial Park and to the National Museum will give a bit of the Kingdom history. SWAZI CANDLES are becoming world famous why not see how they make it. The wide variety of the handcrafts in the markets are also worth to visit it. The OLDEST MINE in the world is located at a short distance from Mbabane. Handmade in Swaziland is the Ngwenya Glass factory. Visit the Mantega Falls and the Execution Hill and why not treat your curiosity with a visit  to a Sangoma (traditional healer). Try the beauty Spa or the hot natural springs. When it comes to wildlife, the main game parks are ok but accommodation standards are basic and should only be taken by those really wanting to have the real feeling of Africa. Game Parks in Swaziland are small and therefore it is easier to spot the animals and get close to them. A wide variety of activities are available in the parks including open Land Rovers, Horse rides, Bike rides, Walking trails, etc. In all the camps the staff organize dancing nights for the tourist to get to know the Swazi dancing's. We do recommend day visits to the Park and accommodation elsewhere. Game Parks are MLILWANE Wildlife Sanctuary, MKHAYA Game Reserve, HLANE Royal National Park.
